For years women have been greatly underrepresented in STEM fields. Key reasons for this are the cultural stereotype that STEM careers can only be handled by men and the lack of visibility of female STEM professionals further discourages young women.
STEM Women believes that if we want to attract the best and brightest minds into the fields that will move the nation forward, we must look to all of the population.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Women Sierra Leone, STEM Women for short, is a local nongovernmental non-profit organization that is working to increase the percentage and participation of women in STEM fields and improve STEM education in the country.
STEM Women was formed to help everyone: Help the students, and then help the nation meet the demands of the technological problem of not having enough scientists and engineers for innovation and development
